Masan Fish Market (Gampo Hoetjip)
📍 마산합포구 동성동, Changwon
Masan Fish Market is a traditional market lined with more than 200 raw-fish restaurants and tanks, where you'll find everything from premium fish to everyday catches like mackerel and pollock, all freshly caught from the clean waters of the south coast. Dried seafood and salted fish are also sold cheaply, making it fun just to browse.
The market grew up on the site of Masanchang, a Joseon-era government grain depot, giving it a long history, and it has even been named among Gyeongnam's best travel destinations by CNN. Modernized facilities — an arcade, a wide courtyard, and rest areas — make it more convenient to explore than in the past.

Useful tips
- At many stalls, you buy the sliced raw fish and then pay a seating fee to eat it at a nearby restaurant, so it's best to ask about this in advance.
- Prices at the dried seafood and salted fish stalls vary by shop, so it's worth checking a few before choosing.
- There's a paid parking lot, so getting there by car is no trouble.
