Odongdo Island
📍 수정동, Yeosu
It's an island you reach from downtown Yeosu by walking along a 768m breakwater. Camellia trees grow thickly here, so it's also called Camellia Island, and inside the island the forest trail links up with a coastal walking path.
Camellia buds begin to open in November and reach their peak from late February through March. The lighthouse at the end of the walking path has an observatory, with views over the sea off Yeosu, Dolsando Island, and the islands toward Namhae.
Walking in and taking the Camellia Train out reduces strain on your legs. The route has little elevation change, so it's easy to combine with downtown landmarks like Yi Sun-sin Square or Jinnamgwan Hall.

Camellias start blooming one by one in November and peak from late February through March. In April, you can see fallen petals carpeting the path.
Do I have to walk all the way onto the island?
Walk the 768m breakwater or take the Camellia Train. The train takes about 5 minutes, and fares are one-way, so you can use it for just one leg of the round trip.
