Empire Tourist Hotel Exterior

This hotel stands in the heart of Gwangju's Cheomdan district. The word most often repeated in reviews is ‘spacious’: guests have consistently said over the years that even the standard rooms are large and that the bathrooms feel roomy too.

Besides bedrooms with beds, there are separate ondol and Korean-style room types where bedding is laid on the floor, giving groups who prefer floor seating and families more options. Many reviews also say there are plenty of restaurants nearby, so choosing dinner is easy.

Good to know

  • Nearby nightlife district

Reviews say the nightlife businesses in the basement and nearby make it hard to recommend for families with children, and that the downtown setting can feel hectic.

  • View from the room window
