Dream Guesthouse Exterior

A guesthouse right in the middle of Seoul, between Hoehyeon Station and Namdaemun Market. You pick it for the location and the shared spaces rather than the rooms, so it suits a trip where you drop your bags and walk all day.

Reviews come from travelers of many nationalities, and the line they all repeat is how close the subway and buses are. It's especially often chosen for the last night before an early-morning airport run.

What guests like

  • Walking distance to Hoehyeon Station

It's a few minutes from Exit 3 of Hoehyeon Station, and several reviews walked to Namdaemun Market, Myeongdong and Seoul Station.

  • Airport bus stop

One review says the airport bus stops right by the property, so even an early flight was no trouble.

  • A large shared kitchen

Many reviews say the restaurant-sized kitchen is well stocked with dishes, making it easy to cook or to eat food they'd bought.

  • Attentive service

Reviews keep saying communication by message worked well and that whatever they needed was handled right away - large bags held separately, for instance.

  • Bunk beds with curtains

Each bed has its own light, outlet and blackout curtain, so even in a dorm you get a space of your own.

  • Clean rooms

Reviews in several languages consistently say the rooms were clean with nothing to complain about.

Good to know

  • Floor heating you can't adjust

One review says the floor heating alone is plenty warm, but the temperature can't be adjusted, so it got hot and dry.

  • Plain, simple facilities

Reviews note it isn't a heavily decorated place, so it's better chosen for location and convenience than for atmosphere.

  • Geared to international travelers

It operates as accommodation for foreign guests, so if you're a Korean national booking, it's safer to check in advance.

The dorms are filled with custom-built bunk beds. Each bed has its own light, power outlet and blackout curtain, so drawing the curtain gives you something like your own room. One review notes you do have to be a little careful climbing in and out of the upper bunk.

The kitchen in the ground-floor lounge is as big as a restaurant's. There's a water dispenser with hot and cold water and plenty of dishes, so it works just as well for people who cook as for those who spread out what they bought at the market.

Check-in is self-service. It's closer to analog, but one review found that more relaxing, and the lounge has a computer, a TV and vending machines, handy for sitting down a moment before or after heading out.

There are large lockers for your bags, and one review says they'll hold a suitcase separately if it doesn't fit. There's a laundry room in the basement and a rooftop terrace upstairs.

Location & nearby

Hoehyeon Station is a short walk away and Namdaemun Market is right there once you step out of the alley. Many reviews walked to Myeongdong, Seoullo 7017 and Seoul Station, and some say the neighborhood felt safe even coming back late.

The airport bus stops nearby, so it's often used for the last night before an early-morning trip to Incheon Airport. If you're driving, though, you'll have to look up a nearby parking lot yourself.
