Hanwha Resort Seorak Sorano
📍 Sokcho · 4 stars · ★ 4.3 (788 reviews)
Hanwha Resort Seorak Sorano is a large resort sitting between Seoraksan and the East Sea. The words that turn up most often together in reviews are 'Waterpia' and 'family,' and it's especially strong for trips that want to fit both the water park and a hot spring into a single day.
Comments about the building's age are steady, but just as many say it's well maintained and caused no discomfort. It's a place people come back to again and again when they value comfort and access over glamour.

Explore the property
The exterior, which looks like an Italian Tuscan village transplanted here, pairs surprisingly well with the foothills of Seoraksan. The buildings are split into several wings, but the floors connect them, so one review notes you can move around without stepping outside even when it rains or snows.
Reviews often single out the Starbucks in the lobby as a plus. Several say they ordered food on a tablet and even completed check-out from their room, so you rarely have to line up at the front desk.
Many rooms use ondol (underfloor heating), and reviewers repeatedly say they heat well. Remodeled rooms and rooms that still have an older feel are mixed together, and the exact type is assigned at check-in, so impressions can differ from room to room. Some reviews liked the layout that separates the living room and bedroom with a sliding door.
Several reviews say the bathroom was clean despite the age of the building. Rooms were renovated at different times, so bathroom impressions vary a little as well.
Opinions on the breakfast buffet split between disappointing and perfectly fine. Reviews note the dining choices inside the resort aren't broad, and some mention using the basement convenience store or the food trucks in the outdoor parking lot.
With a sauna, a convenience store, and even EV chargers on site, there's little reason to leave once you arrive. That said, one review notes it was quite a walk to the facilities depending on the room's location, so it helps to know which wing you're in ahead of time.
Seorak Waterpia is right next door, so it's easy to build the trip around playing in the water. One review calls it a novel experience since the water stays warm even in the cold season, and reviewers repeatedly say it was the kids' favorite. Passes have to be arranged separately from the room.

Location & nearby
