Hwaamgul Cave + Go-Kart Experience
📍 화암면, Jeongseon
Hwaam Cave is a rare themed cave in Korea that combines a former gold mine and a limestone cave. It began as the Cheonpo Mine, worked for gold during the Japanese colonial era, and took its current form after a limestone cave was discovered deep inside during mining.
Along the upper 515m stretch of the 1,803m-long passage, a simulation recreates the process of tracking down and mining gold veins. You can also see cave formations like large flowstone, stone columns, and stalactites, and the visit continues with a monorail ride up followed by a cart experience.

Useful tips
- Walk through the gold-mining simulation section of the upper passage to see how the old mining process worked.
- Since the course continues on to a monorail ride and a cart experience, there's relatively little walking involved.
- The inside of the cave stays cool, so it's a good idea to bring a light jacket even in summer.
