EasyTicket Hwaseong Haenggung (Temporary Palace) & Suwon Hwaseong Fortress Walk

Hwaseong Haenggung (Temporary Palace) was built on the eastern side of Paldalsan by King Jeongjo when he relocated his father Crown Prince Sado's tomb to Suwon, and in ordinary times it served as the government office of the yusubu (a special administrative district). Its scale is grand enough to rank it as the foremost among Korea's temporary palaces.
Hwaseong Fortress, connected by its four gate towers — Changnyongmun, Hwaseomun, Paldalmun, and Janganmun — is registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walking along the fortress wall lets you take in traces of late-Joseon new-city construction throughout.

Useful tips
- Walking the entire fortress wall takes quite a while, so picking a section to explore is also an option.
- Hands-on programs, such as trying traditional Korean archery or wearing traditional Korean dress, are also available.
- At night, the fortress wall is lit up, offering a different atmosphere for a walk than during the day.
