Let me start with the bottom line. The current Accommodation Sale Festa coupon can be issued, used for booking, and used for check-in only through Monday, August 31, 2026, according to the official website, so it can’t be used for lodging during the September Chuseok holiday. For now, you need to handle getting the coupon and booking your Chuseok room as two separate tasks.

The Coupon Available Now Is the Summer Edition

The 2026 Korea Accommodation Sale Festa summer edition began on June 11 and runs through Monday, August 31, according to the official website. At launch, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said it would release 300,000 accommodation discount coupons (240,000 for one-night stays and 60,000 for multi-night stays) (source: Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism).

Eligibility: 85 Population-Declining Local Governments Outside the Capital Area

Only lodging in 85 population-declining local governments outside Seoul, Incheon, and Gyeonggi is eligible. They are spread across Gangwon, Gyeongnam, Gyeongbuk, Daegu, Busan, Jeonnam, Jeonbuk, Chungnam, and Chungbuk, with many county-level areas such as Goseong County, Samcheok City, and Yanggu County in Gangwon. Anyone aged 19 or older can receive one coupon per person on a first-come, first-served basis.

Four Discount Tiers: How Much Can You Save?

There are four coupon tiers, but you can choose exactly one. The right tier depends on your expected payment amount, so check your cart total first.

CategoryPayment amountDiscount
One nightKRW 70,000 or moreKRW 30,000
One nightKRW 20,010 or more ~ under KRW 70,000KRW 20,000
Multi-night (2+ nights)KRW 140,000 or moreKRW 70,000
Multi-night (2+ nights)KRW 50,010 or more ~ under KRW 140,000KRW 50,000

The multi-night discount is new this year, so it makes a much bigger difference if you plan to stay two or more nights. On a two-night stay costing KRW 140,000, the KRW 70,000 discount effectively cuts the price in half.

How to Get the Coupon: A 10:00 AM Checklist

Coupons open at 10:00 AM every day, on the channels of participating online travel agencies, and are issued first come, first served. Around 40 agencies are taking part, including Lotte ON, MyRealTrip, Yeogi Eottae, Gmarket, KakaoTalk Reservations, 11st, and Yanolja (NOL). The part that confused me when I was mapping out the schedule was the validity window: this isn’t a coupon you claim now and use later.

  • Log in to the OTA app you plan to use and register your easy-payment card in advance
  • Confirm that your lodging is in a population-declining area and shortlist your 1~3 top choices
  • Calculate your total payment and choose your tier (one night/multi-night; KRW 20,000, 30,000, 50,000, or 70,000) in advance
  • Download the relevant tier at exactly 10:00 AM
  • Complete payment that same day

The coupon is valid from 10:00 AM on the download day ~ 6:59 AM the following day, for a maximum of 21 hours. It expires automatically after that window.

Book Your Chuseok Lodging in a Different Order

In 2026, Chuseok falls on Friday, September 25, and the holiday runs from Thursday, September 24 through Saturday, September 26. If you include Sunday the 27th, it becomes a four-day break. The problem is that the summer edition’s check-in window ends on August 31. You can’t apply the current coupon to lodging for the September holiday. The schedule for the fall round hasn’t been posted on the official website yet.

I tried rearranging the order several times with the calendar in front of me, and this was ultimately the least risky approach.

  1. Secure your holiday lodging first, independently of the coupon — rooms sell out first during a four-day break.
  2. Book under free-cancellation terms (write the cancellation deadline on your calendar).
  3. If you have a separate trip you can take before August 31, use the summer-edition coupon for that booking.
  4. When the fall round is announced, check the terms and, if they’re better, cancel and rebook.

Easy-to-Miss Rules

  • Day-use stays aren’t eligible, and camping facilities and foreign-tourist urban homestay businesses are excluded too. The coupon can be used only at lodging businesses registered under the Tourism Promotion Act and the Public Health Control Act.
  • If you cancel a used reservation within its validity window, the coupon can be reissued through the same OTA, but you can’t change the coupon tier. You can’t take a KRW 30,000 one-night coupon and switch it to a KRW 70,000 multi-night coupon.
  • OTA coupons and card-payment discounts can often be stacked with the coupon, so be sure to check the amount on the final payment screen again.
  • If you have questions, call the dedicated support center at 1670-3980 (source: Korea Tourism Organization).

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Can I use this coupon during the Chuseok holiday?

The summer edition is valid for check-in only through August 31, so it doesn’t apply to the September 24~27 holiday. Check the official website for announcements about whether a fall round will open.

Do lodging businesses in the Seoul metropolitan area qualify for the discount?

No. Seoul, Incheon, and Gyeonggi are excluded, and only lodging in the 85 population-declining local governments outside the capital area is eligible.

I couldn’t use today’s coupon. Can I get another one tomorrow?

During the issue period, coupons open again at 10:00 AM every day on a first-come, first-served basis. However, usage is limited to one per person, so you can’t use another one if you’ve already completed a payment.

Is the multi-night discount always better than the one-night discount?

Only if you’ve confirmed a stay of two or more nights. The discount is large — KRW 70,000 off a payment of KRW 140,000 or more — but if your schedule is fluid, you might fail to meet the conditions. In that case, the KRW 30,000 one-night coupon may be the safer choice.

If you still have a trip planned before summer ends, use the coupon by August 31, and secure your Chuseok room today under a free-cancellation policy. Keeping these two bookings separate is the key this season.
