Sauijae was the first place Dasan Jeong Yak-yong stayed after being exiled to Gangjin in 1801, living there for several years. He's said to have named it himself, meaning 'a house for one who keeps their thoughts, appearance, words, and conduct upright.'
Gangjin County restored the site of the old tavern, and today a hanok market street has been built up alongside Sauijae, where you can enjoy a table set by a tavern hostess or watch the weekend yard performance 'Thank You, Jumo.'
