EasyTicket Gongju Royal Tombs of King Muryeong and Tomb Park
📍 웅진동, Gongju
This historic site contains seven tombs of kings and royal family members from 475 to 538, when Baekje made Ungjin its capital, and sits on a hillside south of the Geumgang River. The Tomb of King Muryeong and Tombs No. 5 and 6 are west of the valley, while Tombs No. 1 to 4 are to the northeast.
The Tomb of King Muryeong was discovered by chance during repair work in 1971. Along with its brick tomb structure in the style of China's Southern Dynasties, many artifacts were excavated, including a coffin made of Japanese umbrella pine, showing exchange with several countries. The remaining tombs are Baekje-style stone chamber tombs with corridor entrances.
