Seopjikoji
📍 성산읍 고성리, Eastern Jeju
This landform juts long out toward the sea; 'koji' is Jeju dialect for a cape. A walking trail follows the coast, so you see the sea and grassland together the whole way.
On the hill stands Hyeopja Yeondae, an old stone beacon mound, and a white lighthouse rises on an oreum made of red volcanic ash. Stairs lead up to the lighthouse, so it's not hard to climb.
Yumin Art Museum and Glass House, both designed by Tadao Ando, are also on the same grounds. The walking trail alone takes about 1 hour; add the buildings and budget around 1 hour 30 minutes.

Useful tips
- One loop of the walking trail takes about 1 hour; with the art museum, it's 1 hour 30 minutes.
- On days when winds exceed 10 m/s, access toward the lighthouse may be restricted.
- There is almost no shade, so in summer it's best to bring a hat and water.
- Seongsan Ilchulbong is about a 10-minute drive away, so it's easy to pair them by splitting one into the morning and the other into the afternoon.
- Parking is charged by time, so if you plan to stay long, check the maximum fee.
Frequently asked questions
Is there an admission fee?
The Seopjikoji walking trail itself is free; you only pay for parking. Separate facilities inside, such as Yumin Art Museum, charge their own admission.
Can you get around with a stroller or wheelchair?
The path from the parking lot to the front of the lighthouse is paved and accessible. The final stretch up to the lighthouse is stairs, though, so you'll need to turn back before that point.
