EasyTicket Aewol Handam Coastal Trail
📍 애월 한담, Western Jeju
This is a roughly 1.2km seaside path from Gwakji Beach to Handam-dong. Black basalt rocks and shallow emerald water alternate along the way, so the scenery keeps changing as you walk.
Even a round trip takes less than an hour, so it's an easy walk. There are spots along the way where you can step down toward the rocks and sit for a short rest. At the Handam end, cafes cluster together, making it natural to continue there after the walk.
Because this stretch faces west, walking in the late afternoon gives you sunset over the sea. The path mixes wooden decks with narrow passages between rocks, so comfortable shoes are better.

Useful tips
- Park at Gwakji Beach and walk toward Handam to face the sunset as you go.
- If a round trip feels like too much, walking just half from the Handam side still gives you plenty of scenery.
- The rocky sections have no railings, so if you're going with children, stick mostly to the decked sections.
- The cafe street at the Handam end fills up in the afternoon, so it's better to stop by early.
- At high tide, waves can reach the path, so check the tide and time your visit accordingly.
Frequently asked questions
Can I pass through with a stroller or wheelchair?
The decked half on the Handam-dong side is passable, but the rocky section toward Gwakji is narrow and has stairs, so it's difficult. It's better to go out and back from the Handam parking lot.
