EasyTicket Yongmunsa Temple Ginkgo Tree

This ginkgo tree standing on the grounds of Yongmunsa Temple is estimated to be close to 1,100 years old and stands 42m tall, making it one of Korea's largest and oldest known ginkgo trees. Its base has a distinctive knob-like growth that stands out.
Several legends surround the tree, including one that says it was planted by Crown Prince Maui and another that it grew from Master Uisang's walking staff. It's said to have even been granted the honorary rank of dangsanggwan (a senior court official) during the reign of King Sejong of Joseon — a sign of the centuries of care it has received.
