Museom Village Single-Log Bridge

📍 문수면, Yeongju

Museom Village Single-Log Bridge photo

Museom Village means 'an island floating on the water' in Korean, and true to that name, it's completely encircled by the river's course. Of its roughly 40 households, about thirty are traditional houses built by yangban (noble-class) families in the late Joseon dynasty, and as many as sixteen homes remain that are over a century old.

As recently as thirty-some years ago, this single bridge was the only way out of the village, and today it remains the scene that symbolizes the village. Crossing the roughly 150m bridge over the Naeseong Stream has become one of Yeongju's foremost photo spots.

Useful tips

  • The single-log bridge is narrow, so if you meet someone coming the other way, one of you has to step aside briefly.
  • You can also stay overnight in a traditional hanok house, making it a great destination for an overnight trip.
  • There are also culture-village experience programs like pottery-making and dyeing — check official channels for participation times.
