The Pado Exhibition Hall (also known as the Namhae German Exhibition Hall) in the village gives you an at-a-glance look at the conditions those miners and nurses worked under and what their labor meant for Korea’s economy. Admission is 1,000 won, but you get 1,000 won back in Hwajeon — Namhae’s local currency — when you buy a ticket, so it’s essentially free. Hours are 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. (last entry 5:30 p.m.), closed Mondays and on New Year’s Day, Lunar New Year, and Chuseok.

How to Get to Namhae German Village

By Car

Take the Namhae Expressway → Sacheon IC → head toward Namhae Bridge, then just enter “Namhae German Village” or “Pado Exhibition Hall” into your navigation for the most accurate route. Plan on about 4 hours from Seoul, or 2–3 hours from Busan or Changwon.

By Public Transit

• Seoul Nambu Bus Terminal → Namhae Bus Terminal: 4 departures a day, about 4 hours 30 minutes
• Namhae Bus Terminal → German Village: take a rural bus (runs about every 90 minutes, roughly a 50-minute ride) or the Ttubeogi Bus

Rural buses run infrequently, so check the timetable before you head out. A taxi from Namhae Bus Terminal takes just 15–20 minutes, so splitting a cab makes sense if there are two or more of you.

Parking: Weekdays vs. Festival Season

Namhae German Village has a free public parking lot next to Deutschplatz (German Square). On weekdays or during the off-season, you can easily park right in front of the village, but on weekends, during peak season, and throughout the beer festival, traffic starts backing up right from the entrance road.

During the festival, vehicle access into the village itself may be restricted. It’s much less stressful to park at the temporary lot and take the shuttle bus up.

This garden-themed park sits right next to German Village. It brings together individual gardens designed by 25 different garden designers, each with its own personality, making it great for both photos and a stroll. Hours are 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., closed every Tuesday. Admission is 6,000 won for adults, 3,000 won for teens, 2,000 won for children, and 5,000 won for ages 65 and up.

Mulgeon Windbreak Forest (walking distance)

Head down toward the sea from German Village and you’ll run right into this Natural Monument forest. Its trees, over 300 years old, form a windbreak that shields the village from sea winds, and the well-maintained trail makes for an easy, pleasant walk.

Sangju Silver Sand Beach (about 30 minutes by car)

This crescent-shaped white sand beach is framed by Mt. Geumsan like a folding screen behind it. The sand is fine and the slope is gentle, which makes it popular with families. It’s great not just for a summer getaway but as a spring or fall walking spot too.
