EasyTicket Soswaewon
📍 가사문학면 지곡리, Damyang
Soswaewon is a private garden that the scholar Yang San-bo began building in the 1530s, during the reign of King Jungjong of Joseon, and which is said to have been completed over generations by his descendants. It preserves the original form of Korea's private gardens so well that it's designated a Scenic Site.
Buildings like Daebongdae, Gwangpunggak, and Jewoldang blend with bamboo, pine, and plum trees along the stream, so a walk through evokes the spirit of a Joseon-era scholar. It was burned down during Japan's 1597 invasion (the Jeongyu War) and rebuilt by descendants, who have maintained it ever since.
