Gohado Observatory and Coastal Deck Path

📍 고하도, Mokpo

Gohado Observatory and Coastal Deck Path photo

Gohado Observatory stands on Gohado Island, where Admiral Yi Sun-sin is said to have stayed for around a hundred days regrouping his forces after winning the Battle of Myeongnyang. Its distinctive exterior looks like several panokseon warships stacked on top of one another.

The first floor is a rest area, while floors two through five hold the observation deck and exhibits on Mokpo tourism. Along with the coastal deck path that continues from it, the whole thing is free to use, making it a popular walking course too.

  • It photographs well alongside Mokpo Bridge and Yudalsan Mountain, so it's worth bringing a camera.
