Mokpo Modern History Museum Halls 1 and 2
📍 대의동(근대거리), Mokpo
Building 1 of the Mokpo Modern History Museum occupies the former Mokpo Japanese Consulate building. Built in 1898, it went on to serve various purposes — including Mokpo City Hall and the Mokpo Cultural Center — before reopening in 2014 as the history museum it is today.
The red-brick building has kept its original look intact, making it one of the top photo spots on the modern-era street. Building 2 occupies the former Oriental Development Company building, so it's easy to visit right after Building 1 — seeing both together gives you a fuller picture of Mokpo's modern history.
