Bukchon Hanok Village (Bukchon-ro 11-gil)
📍 가회동, Seoul
This is a dense hanok neighborhood where tiled roofs overlap in layers along the slopes of Gahoe-dong. As you climb the alleys and look back, downtown buildings appear beyond the low rooftops, and that layered view is what makes the classic Bukchon photo backdrop.
The best-known area around Bukchon-ro 11-gil is still a residential neighborhood where people live. As crowds of tourists made daily life more difficult, this section was designated a Special Management Area, and visiting hours are limited to 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
A reliable route is to walk up from Anguk Station, pass Bukchon Culture Center and the craft-workshop alleys, then loop back out. The hills continue with plenty of steps and slopes, so comfortable walking shoes are the better choice.
