Mungyeong Saejae — Free Admission, an Outdoor Walk Through Historic Gateways

Ecorala is a multi-themed park built on a former coal mine site. The Mungyeong Coal Museum sits within the same complex, so it’s a great choice on rainy days or in the depths of winter.

• Nearby hiking spots like Juwangsan are in Cheongsong County, more than 1 hour 40 minutes from Mungyeong by car. That doesn’t fit a day-trip route, so plan it as a separate trip.
• Yakdol hanwoo (mineral-stone-fed Korean beef) and yakdol pork restaurants cluster in downtown Mungyeong-eup, so it’s most efficient to have lunch near the Mungyeong Saejae parking lot.
• On autumn foliage weekends (late Oct–early Nov), the parking lots at Mungyeong Saejae and Ecorala fill up early. We recommend arriving before 10 a.m.
