Gunsan Modern History Museum ~ Jinpo Ocean Theme Park

Sinheung-dong Japanese-style House · Chowon Photo Studio · Dongguksa Temple

The Sinheung-dong Japanese-style House (Hirotsu House) is a Japanese wooden house famous as a filming location for the movies The General’s Son and Tazza: The High Rollers. Viewing hours are 10:00~17:00, and since the visit is mainly about the exterior, 30 minutes is enough. Within walking distance nearby are Chowon Photo Studio (closed the first and third Mondays), the filming location for the movie Christmas in August, and Dongguksa, the only Japanese-style Buddhist temple in Korea.

Gyeongam-dong Railroad Village (Open 24 Hours, Free Admission)

Finally, stopping by Gyeongam-dong Railroad Village wraps up Day 1. It’s open year-round with free admission, and the alleys inside the village are lined with shops selling retro school uniforms, dalgona candy, and snacks. There’s nowhere to park inside the village itself, so many visitors use the E-Mart parking lot across the street.

By Car

From Seoul to Gunsan takes about 3 hours via the Seohaean (West Coast) Expressway.
