Places to visit in Sokcho

About a 10-minute cable car ride from Sogongwon Park up to Gwongeumseong Fortress at 700m elevation. Take in a panorama of Oeseorak's jagged peaks, with Ulsanbawi Rock visible in the distance.

📍 설악동(소공원)

Snack on nationally famous sweet crispy chicken and market food before dinner. The covered arcade makes it easy to browse regardless of weather.

📍 중앙동

Cross Dongmyeong Bridge to stroll around a sunrise pavilion perched over the sea, then climb the lighthouse observatory for a view over Sokcho's coastline and the Seorak ridgeline.

📍 동명동

A relaxed closing walk along the roughly 8km lagoon trail and past Beombawi Rock. End the trip with a calm lakeside view before heading home.

📍 영랑동

A human-powered ferry ride where you pull yourself across by hauling a wire with an iron hook. Bring cash for the one-way fare.

📍 청호동

A large three-story, all-black ocean-view cafe. Take in the sea through floor-to-ceiling windows with a dessert for that soothing-wave-sound mood.

📍 속초해변(청호해안길)

Start with a hearty bone-broth-based mulhoe (cold raw fish soup). The floor-to-ceiling windows open onto a refreshing view of Cheongchoho Lake — arrive early on weekends, as there's often a wait.

📍 조양동(청초호)

Enjoy an assorted live-fish sashimi platter and grilled seafood with friends at the Dongmyeonghang Raw Fish Center. With so many stalls, just pick one on the spot.

📍 동명동

A local restaurant now in its second generation. Finish with a Sokcho specialty set featuring abai sundae, squid sundae, and cold pollack-sashimi noodles.
